What Pulsar retrieves from GA4

Pulsar synchronises daily the key GA4 metrics: active users, sessions, average duration, page views, conversions, custom events, acquisition sources (organic, paid, direct, referral, social, email).

OAuth permissions used: read-only on analytics.readonly. No modification, no writes on GA4.

The 4 steps to connect GA4

1
1. Prepare the Pulsar project

If not already done, create the Pulsar project with name + URL.

2
2. Connect via OAuth

Settings > Connected sources > Google Analytics 4 > "Connect a Google account". Validation of permissions.

3
3. Select the GA4 property

Pulsar lists all accessible GA4 properties (Account > Property). Select the one matching this project. Property ID visible on GA4 > Admin > Property Settings.

4
4. First synchronisation

Pulsar retrieves 16 months of history. Allow 5-10 minutes for the first sync. Data appears in the dashboard.

Common errors

  • Property not listedCheck on analytics.google.com that your Google account has at least the "Viewer" role on the targeted property (Admin > Property Access Management).
  • GA4 vs Universal AnalyticsPulsar supports GA4 ONLY (not the old Universal Analytics which has been deprecated since July 2023). Check that you have a GA4 property.
  • Custom events not surfacingPulsar retrieves conversions configured in GA4 > Admin > Conversions. For specific events beyond conversions, contact support for custom mapping.

Frequently asked questions

Does Pulsar handle multiple GA4 properties per project?
One property per project. To manage multiple domains, create one project per domain. For multi-regions of the same brand, contact support for an aggregated view.
My data differs between Pulsar and GA4, why?
GA4 has a 24-48h processing delay on certain metrics. Pulsar synchronises D-1 or D-2 data depending on GA4 availability. No long-term divergence.
Does Pulsar respect GDPR?
Yes. AES-256 encrypted OAuth token, Swiss hosting outside the Cloud Act, complete audit log. GA4 data anonymised as in GA4 (IP anonymised at source).
How long does Pulsar keep history?
Indefinitely in the dashboard as long as your Pulsar account is active. CSV export possible at any time. Upon termination, data archived 30 days then deleted.
