What is an llms.txt file?
The llms.txt is a text file in Markdown format, placed at the root of a website, that presents the structure and key pages of that site to AI models. It is often described as the "robots.txt for artificial intelligence": where robots.txt governs indexing crawlers, llms.txt helps answer engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini or Claude find, understand and cite the right content.
In practice, the file starts with the site name and a short description, then lists the key pages grouped by section, each one accompanied by its title and a summary.
