Bing, the blind spot of your AI visibility
Bing powers Copilot and part of ChatGPT. Tending to your presence on Bing in 2026 has become a direct lever for visibility in AI answers.
Everyone optimizes for Google. That is logical: it is where most search traffic is decided. But when your customers ask a question to an AI, the answer does not always go through Google. A good part of it passes through Bing, often without anyone paying attention.
This is the classic blind spot of AI visibility: you tend to one engine, you ignore the other, and you deprive yourself of a source from which the models draw part of their answers.
Why Bing matters for AI engines
Bing is not only Microsoft's search engine. It is also the search infrastructure that powers several AI assistants.
- Copilot relies directly on Bing's index for its real-time answers. What Bing knows about your site, Copilot can pick up.
- ChatGPT, for its live search, long used Bing's index as its main source. Even as the ecosystem evolves, this proximity remains structural.
In other words: if your site is poorly indexed on the Bing side, you start with a handicap on part of the AI answer engines, whatever your position in Google. AI visibility does not come down to a single channel.
What most sites neglect
The natural reflex is to bet everything on Google's Search Console. As a result, the Bing side stays in the shadows.
Three omissions come up systematically.
- Bing indexing itself. A site can be perfectly indexed by Google and very incomplete in Bing. Without checking, you do not know it.
- Bing Webmaster Tools. The equivalent of Search Console on the Microsoft side remains underused. Yet it is there that you see what Bing has actually crawled, indexed, and how it understands you.
- IndexNow. This protocol, pushed by Microsoft, lets you instantly signal your new pages and updates to the engines that support it, rather than waiting for the crawler's next pass. Few sites have enabled it.
Each of these points is simple to fix. Together, they make the difference between a site that is visible on the Bing side and a site that Bing-backed AI engines only half see.
The concrete actions
Nothing exotic here: these are technical hygiene gestures, applied to an engine too often forgotten.
- Submit your site to Bing Webmaster Tools. Verify ownership, send your sitemap, and check the indexing report. You can import your configuration from Google's Search Console to save time.
- Enable IndexNow. Configure the key on your server or through your CMS so that every publication and every update is signaled immediately. Freshness matters enormously for answers generated live.
- Structure your data. Structured data (Schema.org) helps Bing understand your pages, your entities and your brand. What Bing understands cleanly, Copilot restitutes more faithfully.
- Ensure your brand's consistency. Name, description, key information must be identical everywhere. Inconsistencies blur the models' understanding, whatever their indexing source.
If a channel that matters to you is not covered by default, it can be added on request. The idea is not to handle everything, but not to leave an entire slice of your AI visibility unmonitored.
Measuring your presence on the Bing and Copilot side
The usual trap: apply these actions once, then never check again. Yet Bing and the AI engines it powers evolve, and your presence with them.
Track two things concretely. First your indexing and your impressions on the Bing side, via Bing Webmaster Tools. Then your presence in the answers of the Bing-backed engines, Copilot first, query by query: are you cited, how often, in what terms.
This is exactly Pulsar's logic: tracking your SEO visibility and your presence in the main AI answer engines in one place, so that Bing stops being a blind spot and becomes a steered lever again.
In summary
Optimizing for Google remains essential, but it is no longer enough. Part of the AI engines see the web through Bing. A site well indexed on the Bing side, with IndexNow active, clean structured data and a consistent brand, gives itself every chance of being picked up by Copilot and the answer engines that rely on the same index.
The blind spot is only one as long as you refuse to look at it. Open Bing Webmaster Tools, enable IndexNow, and measure: the rest follows.
